Dear Neighbors,

Aurora is our home and I want to fight alongside you to make it a safe, well, and vibrant place.

I am Gianina Horton and I am running for Aurora City Council Ward 1. I have deep roots as a fifth-generation Coloradan and am honored to be a daughter of an immigrant.

As your neighbor, I have been a renter and homeowner in Ward 1 and have fallen so in love with our community and everything that current and incoming neighbors contribute.

Over the years, the bulk of my career has focused on criminal justice reform efforts by aiming to improve relationships between youth and law enforcement, promoting police accountability and transparency, advocating for justice with diverse communities, and utilizing data to make informed decisions.

As Aurora is changing and facing a new era of challenges, I will ensure that we can afford to live here long-term and communities feel empowered and safe to engage in all aspects of public life.

That’s why I’m running: so our voice and our power is constantly at the table in legislation that directly impacts our lives.
